Egerbakta
Egerbakta is located 8 km far from Eger on the North-Western direction. The easiest way to reach this place by car, Road 24 crosses the village.
The main attraction of the village its location: situated at the meeting of Mátra and Bükk Mountains. Brook Laskó cuts the village into two parts, Brook Szólát springs from its border. It has been lived by inhabitants for a long time, residential elevations, watch-houses and remains of fortifications from prehistoric age were found here. Egerbakta was first noted in certified documents dated in 1261. It was destroyed by the Turks twice, in 1552 and 1596, however it become populated again as after the bubonic plague (Black Death) in the 17th century. During resettlement was its Church built which still stands.
Both lakes of Egerbakta can be found on the North-Eastern direction from the village, where fishing is allowed with day tickets. The Egerbakta swamps of sphagnum become protected as a national sight in 1978, which lies 280 meters above the sea level, 100 metres far from the Big-lakes, on the side of the Lake Mountain.
