Novaj

Approaching Novaj from the direction of Ostoros, from the highest point of Macskás hilltop a nice view of the village welcomes visitors. Its first certified mentioning in documents goes back to 1275. The Turks destroyed the village in 1552, but it built-up and repopulated again. Its Church was probably built in the 1280s and restored between 1730-1746, still stands on a small hill in the centre of the village today. A column made of stone in the time of Turkish reign still stands in the southern part of the village. In case of hunger, the restaurant in the centre of Novaj waits for you.
